John C. Reilly stars as fictional rock legend Dewey Cox, and takes the audience down the road of his remarkable career. The film (co-written by Judd Apatow) perfectly parodies such rock biopics as Walk the Line and Ray, following Cox from early childhood until his death, and hilariously mocks the "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll" lifestyle. Highlights include Cox accidentally chopping his more talented brother in half with a machete, a meeting with the Beatles in India, and, of course, several trips to rehab. "The glory of the movie is Reilly's performance, which is executed with a perfectly straight face and not a hint of self-consciousness."
