Twin tiger brothers, born in the wilds, are seperated as cubs when a hunter (Guy Pearce) comes across them. One tiger is sent to the circus, where he is trained to jump through hoops of fire, while the other is eventually taken in by a man who conditions the tiger to be a killer. When they are reunited as adults, pitted against each other in a figting arena, they must rediscover each other and the connections between them. "That Annaud and his deft production team create believable dramatic characters without compromising the dignity of the animals they've borrowed as stars—is the striking (and sometimes unnerving) achievement of a film that also swoops and loops through fairytale hoops."
